ChemCom (2/7/11)
To start class, everybody got handed 3 paper cups with water inside
Mrs. Simkowski had everbody taste each type of water and decide which kind we liked best, without knowing which is which
Of the people that voted, 8 people liked the filtered, 1 person liked the bottled, and nobody liked the distilled water.
We then did the bellringer which was a graph where we filled in the blanks:
Mrs. Simkowski demonstrated how to filter Crystal Light water
The water started out ORANGE
When we ran it through the coffee filter and funnel, it turned YELLOW
We then used charcoal absorption and the water came out clear
We tested it for electrical current, and it did still conduct electricity
We discovered that Crystal Light water is not only a solution, but also a suspension
We got our tests back and seporated into groups to go over them
After the going over thetest, we took notes (Pages 6 - 9)
During the notes, Mrs. Simkowski gave everybody a periodic table and a folder to put them inside. We got to chose whether we wanted a BLUE or PURPLE folder.
